The Serious Road Trip, a loose federation of non-profit groups located in several countries, required a website to present the organization's history and activities. The goal of the site was to inform about the history of the group, to illustrate their activities through the use of photographs, news updates and project summaries, and to provide contact information for individual member groups.
The site developed contains a mixture of static HTML pages and pages dynamically generated from a database. The static pages of the site were authored as XML documents that describe the information content of each page. These are then transformed into HTML using XSLT stylesheets and a custom processor, simplifying maintenance and ensuring a consistent look and feel across the site.
The dynamically-created pages are generated online from a database using PHP scripts. The database stores details of the projects carried out by the member groups, as well as additional information that is drawn together to construct the project pages. Some client-side scripting is also used for interactivity.
Visual design for the site is also by nomadcode.
